FW Poe Manufacturing Co. opened in 1897. Later acquired by Burlington Industries. Closed 1977. Destroyed by fire in 2003.

A railroad and mill pond have replaced what looks like a river/canal in the earlier pictures. Downtown Greenville is behind the mill. This railroad is the main line between Charlotte and Atlanta
